The English Premier League 2020-2021 season was intended to start on August 8, but due to the continuous effect of the global pandemic, COVID-19, it was pushed back to September 12, 2020. With the 29th season about to start, many have transpired during the last season with 3 teams promoted to the league, and 3 teams down to the EFL. What are we going to expect in this upcoming season? English Premier League 2020-2021 Season - What to Expect in the Upcoming Season?

Liverpool dominantly won the previous title, for the first time since the inception of the league. With many points ahead, people will expect a lot for the reds to kick their performance up a notch.

With the current global health crisis, the games are going to be played still in closed doors to the public. With the current schedule in play, it will be the second time that the league will have a mid-season break in February. It is also the second season that the VAR is going to be utilized fully.

With the results of the last season, the top 17 teams will continue to play in the top-flight English League. Three teams from promoted from the EFL are Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion, and Fulham. They are replacing the bottom three teams, which are Bournemouth, Watford, and Norwich City.

Leeds United was promoted to the EPL after 16 years of drought to the top-flight league! The loss of West Bromwich Albion to Huddersfield Town, caused the top EFL team to the top of the table, leading to their climb in the top tier competition. After the relegation in the 17-18 season, West Bromwich Albion stayed on the EFL for two years, and after the take over of Manager Slaven Bilić, Albion was promoted to the EPL for the 20-21 season. After a one-year absence to the Premier League, Fullham F.C. is back in the premier league after finishing strong in the EFL.

With all the excitement going, and the thrill of Liverpool’s victory still not slowing down, we can expect a full-on performance from all teams this upcoming season! The promotion of the three new teams will bring a new dynamic to the current league this season! It looks like once the stadiums are back and running with people, the intensity would be much more intense as some teams are coming back to the EPL.
