Messi and Ronaldo donated €1 Million to hospitals to fight the coronavirus (coVid-19)! Many footballers are also joining in the initiative to fight for the spread of the virus that has put a halt in all major football events in the world.

Lionel Messi's Donation

Clinic Barcelona reported having received a donation from the Argentine football star which is aimed towards the treatment of infected patients and the advancement of the research towards COVID-19.

Another news reported by Mundo Deportive reported that half of the donation will go to another medical center in Argentina, the football star’s hometown. Spain is one of the countries that were most affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak with more than 33,000 confirmed cases and 2,100 deaths. It seems like the country is taking more strain due to the lack of supplies and the rising number of infected daily.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Donation

Ronaldo is also reported to do the same donation worth €1 Million, together with his agent Jorge Mendes donated to two hospitals in Lisbon and Porto.

The Spanish star’s donation is going to be used to put up two intensive care units for Hospital de Santa Maria as it is fighting the recent coronavirus outbreak. The hospital in Porta is going to be equipped with several ICU beds, ventilators and monitors according to Reuters.

Other Football Initiatives

Paris Saint-Germain has donated €100,000 to the Secours Populaire Francias, this is also added to the €400,000 renewed partnership of the organization with the football club.

Robert Lewandowski is also fighting for the cause by donating €1 Million to assist in the fight against the outbreak in Germany.

Pep Guardiola, Manager of the dominant Manchester City is said to donate also the same amount to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation and the Medical College of Barcelona. The funds are going to be used to purchase the supply of medical and protective equipment for the frontliners fighting the pandemic.
